Eat Immune-boosting Herbs

As the world scrambles to find a cure for COVID-19, health experts have suggested boosting the body’s immune system. Here are nine immune-boosting herbs:
1) Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum or holy basil)
2) Neem (Azadirachta Indica) leaves
3) Haldi (Turmeric)
4) Amla berry (Phyllanthus emblica or Indian gooseberry)
5) Kali Mirch (black pepper)
6) Ginger
7) Bilva/bael (Aegle Marmelos) leaves
8) cinnamon
9) honey


Holy basil or tulsi is a herb, which has amazing medicinal and therapeutic benefits. Basil contains strong expectorant and antitussive properties, which work from the root to get rid of phlegm, irritants and suppress the cough, thereby treating chronic respiratory problems.


Take a drink made from basil (tulsi) and aegle marmelos (bael/bilva).


Ayurvedic herbs and spices like ginger, onion, garlic, turmeric, and saffron are great immune-boosting herbs.


Eat: Lemon, Lime, Avocado,Tangerine, Pineapple, Dandelion, Orange


Avoid cold drinks, ice-creams, and cold food.


The following ayurvedic medicines can be taken for fast recovery:
1) tribhuvankirti ras
2) laxmivilas ras
Both 1 – 1 tablet each; crush and mix with honey and take once a day.

Remember that the body repairs itself when you are asleep.


Vitamin C Protects Against Coronavirus

Vitamin C, Vitamin D, magnesium, zinc, and selenium have been shown to strengthen the immune system against viruses.
Vitamin C: 3,000 milligrams (or more) daily, in divided doses.
Vitamin D3: 2,000 International Units daily. (Start with 5,000 IU/day for two weeks, then reduce to 2,000)
Magnesium: 400 mg daily (in citrate, malate, chelate, or chloride form)
Zinc: 20 mg daily
Selenium: 100 mcg (micrograms) daily


The basis for using high doses of vitamin C to prevent and combat virus-caused illness may be traced back to vitamin C’s early success against polio, first reported in the late 1940s (Source: Klenner FR. It is important to remember that preventing and treating respiratory infections with large amounts of vitamin C is well established.


Once you are infected with the coronavirus, your body starts producing antibodies to fight off. As these antibodies successfully fight off the infection, your symptoms begin to lessen. Eventually, your immune system will completely destroy all the coronavirus in your body.


Once you have recovered from the coronavirus, your body will keep cells called lymphocytes. These lymphocytes “remember” the coronavirus infection. Now, you become immune because of your immune system generates antibodies and memory cells to fight the coronavirus again. This is the basic principle behind vaccines.
